Australia Senator rejected and expelled from Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, KOMPAS.com-A senator from Australia, Nick Xenophon independent stronghold, denied entry because Malaysia is regarded as a threat to the security and harmony of Malaysia.

Xenophon Malaysia immigration officer was arrested on arrival at Kuala Lumpur Airport, Wednesday (16/2), and will be immediately deported to Melbourne, Australia, in the evening.

"I was told that I was a threat to security, and I am not allowed to enter the country," said Xenophon told Reuters news agency by telephone.

Malaysia's official news agency, Bernama, mentioning, Xenophon was arrested at the terminal special cheap flights (low cost carrier terminal) at 06.50 pm local time so get off the plane that brought him from Melbourne.

Named Add, upper House member of Parliament were arrested because Australia is known to have a history of "disrupting the harmony of the country", according to article 8 paragraph (3) of the Immigration Act of Malaysia.

Malaysia's immigration Director-General Datuk Ahmad Alias in official statements say, Xenophon denied entrance to Malaysia because he had attended a demonstration prohibited in Kuala Lumpur, in April last year.

"Malaysia is a free and democratic country, but there is no one who is free of the law. The authorities will take appropriate action against the person who is supposed to have violated national laws, "said Aka.

Minister of Malaysia Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein added, the detention decision Xenophon in no way politically motivated. He also asserted, the status of Xenophon as a senator at all just makes it special in the eyes of law of Malaysia.

"As long as the decision (detention) was done according to the law, his status as a senator does not make him special," said Hishammuddin, Named was quoted as saying.

"I want to remind the Prime Minister Najib Razak that he's not entitled to treat the guests as the enemy just because they were being critical of his Government," said Anwar.

Lim Chee Wee, President of the Malaysian Bar Association lawyer, said detention of Xenophon's "shameful events" and "absurd". Lim warned, Governments should Malaysia apologises unreservedly to the Australia's senators.

The Government of Malaysia has always been claimed to have carried out the election freely and fairly.
